Season Welcome Letter from the Chair

Bend Rapids Youth Hockey Community,

I hope you’re all enjoying the transition from summer to fall and that your athletes are settling into the new school year. Our family is finally finding our rhythm with both kids now at Pacific Crest Middle School — so I know that adjustment well!

With practices set to begin Wednesday, October 22, I wanted to take a moment to share my excitement for the season ahead — an excitement that’s been echoed in recent Steering Committee meetings.

Speaking of the Steering Committee, as I reach my sixth month supporting the club, I want to express how fortunate we are to have this dedicated group of volunteers. They take their roles seriously and bring professionalism and passion to everything they do — from scheduling and finance to coaching, SafeSport, and sponsorship. If you see one of them around the rink, please take a moment to thank them. I have a front-row seat to their work, and it’s inspiring to see how much care goes into making the Bend Rapids experience what it is.

One project I’m particularly proud of is the adoption of our new Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles. These statements reflect who we are as a club and what we aspire to represent on and off the ice.

Our guiding principles are at the heart of everything we do:

Fearless – We play with courage, embrace challenges, and pursue excellence with effort, discipline, and pride — growing through every opportunity on and off the ice.

Selfless – We put the team first, respect one another, and contribute to something bigger than ourselves.

Inspired – We bring energy and enthusiasm to the rink, find joy in the work, and share our love for the game with others.

These principles define what it means to be a Rapids player, coach, and supporter. Whether we’re entering the rink for practice or competing in a game, we want to be known not just for how we play, but for how we carry ourselves as a community.

As we begin the new season, know that our goal is to make your experience with the Bend Rapids positive, enjoyable, and fulfilling. We want every athlete to play fearlessly, grow through every opportunity, recognize they’re part of something bigger than themselves, and stay inspired to play with enthusiasm and joy.

Let’s go Rapids!

With appreciation,

Kevney Dugan
