Read on for a message from Tyler...
For those who may not know me, my name is Tyler Brower and I am proud and excited to join the Steering Committee in the ADM role. I grew up playing hockey in Colorado then eventually moving to Minnesota, including high school hockey at Edina High School, continuing at the junior level in both the US & Canada playing on a successful team ranked top 10 on the NHL Central Scouting’s final rankings of North America. I later committed to play NCAA Division I hockey and attended an NCAA Division III program (studying exercise science), before signing professionally in North America in the SPHL and ECHL, along with preseason training camps in the AHL and other playing opportunities in Europe.
I've been a long-time coach filling both skills and skating roles during my off-seasons as a player and eventually coaching for the Rapids in 2021-2022 with both the 14U and 18U teams.
Stepping into this role entails my focus being to furthering our development "spark" moving the ADM from a concept we reference to a framework we actively operate within across the organization. That means supporting our coaches, teams, and families with clear structure and tools while creating more consistency in how we develop players across age groups and skill level both on and off the ice, in-season as well as out of season. Setting a standard and expectation with clear frameworks in development, while communicating and educating the "why" and "how" along the way is imperative. For the future of the program to reach its potential and continue to grow, my aim is to utilize my experiences both from a player and coach side to set this standard and direction. As we move into the next chapter, your steering committee is committed to delivering a program that fits the growing needs of our community. We will be openly communicating with you all as we dive deeper and expect back in return the same level of transparency, communication, and commitment from our families who make our organization what it is.
Ultimately, the goal is simple: support our coaches, develop our athletes, educate our families, provide opportunity, and strengthen Bend hockey.
I’m excited to get started and look forward to working with the players, coaches, and families that make this community so strong.
