8U Team Players Wanted
Join our 8U co-ed youth hockey team! 8U are kids 6, 7, and 8. Practice starts October 28.
Practice ice times are Tuesdays at 3:15pm and Fridays at 6am.
The Rapids follow USA Hockey's American Development Model (ADM). At the 8U level the focus is:
- Fun! Participants (kids & families) have fun, enjoy learning hockey and develop an interest for the game.
- Ensuring participants are becoming physically literate and developing general athleticism.
- Encouraging participation in a variety of sports to help our children maximize their ability to reach their athletic potential
- Developing on-ice balance and coordination.
- Basic puck control.

Games will be played “cross-ice”. Athletes should have at least one year of skating experience. If your child has no skating experience, Bend Park & Rec has programs for you. Here's a comparison between Rapids and Bend Park & Rec programs.

Team Fee: $900 (Team fees cover most of the expenses associated with being on a youth hockey team, except for personal travel, equipment, and uniforms. Team fees include in-season practice ice, games, super weekends, tournaments, and Rapids operational costs.)
Uniforms: Loaners available for a 'TBD' fee. Players wanting their own with name on the back - $240.
Refundable Volunteer Surcharge: $400 (This is refundable when 1 parent completes 10-hours of volunteer time for things like locker room monitoring, score keeping, etc...)
