2022-23 Season Updates

LATE REGISTRATIONS

September 1 was the deadline to register for the current season. Registration for next season opens in July, 2023 and will be announced by email, social channels, and here on the website. Practice Schedule


REGISTRATION

Registration opened on Aug 11 and closed Sep 1. 

Only a partial payment is required to register your player. Registration was announced to everyone on the Rapids email list with social media announcements shortly thereafter and updates to this website.  Email the Registrar with any questions.

Uniforms

There was a ton of feedback on the uniform program during our annual end of season survey.  We listened and improvements were made!

  • With input from our families and the Steering Committee a new look was created. The unique green/maroon color combo was kept, but married to a more traditional sweater look with classic stripes and collegiate numbers and lettering. 
  • Player name plates will return to the shoulder area. 
  • No sponsor logos.
  • All Rapids athletes are required to purchase new uniforms which you will keep. 

Dryland Training

Dryland training options are currently in the planning stages.  

COACHES

Coaching applications opened on May 1.  Coaching staff that have been finalized are listed in each team section below.  If you're interested in coaching, go to the Coaching Signup  page for more info.  We still need practice coaches at the 8U and 10U levels. 

Volunteer Requirement

The refundable volunteer is $400.   

The fee is refundable when you complete your 10 hours.  Accruing 10 hours is easy and quick. It's per family.  If you step into a Team Manager or Steering Committee role, the fee is waived right off the bat. All your questions about volunteering are here.  

Safesport & Background Checks for Parents

At least 1 parent of each athlete MUST complete the following three items. 

  1. Register with USA Hockey as a Parent Volunteer. No cost.  You will receive a USA Hockey number which will be required at the time of athlete registration with the Bend Rapids.  Get registered here. 
  2. Safesport Certified. Safesport certification takes about 30 minutes to complete online.  No cost.  Start the SafeSport certification.  
  3. Background Screened.  The background check application takes just a few minutes to submit. Start your background screening. This is facilitated through USA Hockey. Note: There is a fee. The Rapids will refund the background check fee to any parent that completes the process. After you submit the form, you'll receive an email receipt. Forward this email to the Finance Manager. hey will process the refund through your sportsengine account.

Pre Season Activities

We booked ice time at the Rink Exchange in Eugene for 12U, 14U, and 18U skate sessions.  Evaluations are mandatory for 14U and 18U.. Sign up here. 
 

SKATE SESSIONS for 12u, 14u,  18u

Location:  Rink Exchange, Eugene.  

Fees:

  • $50/session.  There are 6 skate sessions.
  • $75 for the tryout/evaluation.
  • $250 package deal for all skate sessions. Includes 14U/18U evaluations if applicable to you.

Team Details and Fees

8U

Head Coach: John Kromm. Assistant Coaches: Bobby Stenrose & James Schembri

  • Registration Fee: $850
  • Uniform Fee: $140 (players will keep uniforms w/ name plates this year)
  • Refundable Volunteer Surcharge:  $400
  • Total Season Fee: $1390

TEAM NOTES

  • Approx 40 Practice Hours & 8 Games (Cross-ice)
  • 2 Jamborees / Tournaments to be spread out throughout the season
  • We will have 1 ice slot for practices on Monday afternoons; we are working on solutions for more ice throughout the season up to 1 morning per week.We are looking at alternative ice locations (Sunriver & Inn of the 7th Mountain) to expand the practice schedule and will communicate as details become available.
  • Three installment payments due November, December and January will be available.
  • Capacity is 30 athletes.

 

10U

Head Coach: Jeremy Jensen. Assistant Coach: Jeremy Guy

  • Registration Fee: $1490
  • Uniform Fee: $190
  • Refundable Volunteer Surcharge: $400
  • Total Season Fee: $2080

TEAM NOTES

  • Approx 40 Practice Hours
  • 16 Games (Based on OSHA Guidelines)
  • 2 Tournaments per team / State Jamboree
  • Team competition level will be based on feedback from the previous season’s 8U and 10U coaches. Coaching Committee will determine the model each 10U team will play under.
  • Team structure will be determined once the Pavilion opens in mid- October and after several practices. 
  • Three installment payments due November, December and January will be available.
  • Capacity is 30 athletes.

 

12U

Head Coaches: Rob Brown & Patrick O’Brien. Assistant Coaches: Michael Mills-Price & Shaun Roland

Based on projections, there will be two, 12U teams. 

  • Registration Fee: $1690
  • Uniform Fee: $190
  • Refundable Volunteer Surcharge: $400
  • Total Season Fee: $2280

TEAM NOTES

  • 45 Practice Hours 
  • 16 Games
  • 3-4 Tournaments / State Jamboree
  • Team structure will be determined once the Pavilion opens in mid- October.
  • Three installment payments due November, December and January will be available.
  • Capacity is 20 athletes per team.

 

14U

Head Coach: Michel Waller.  Assistant Coach: Jon Vlasak

  • Registration Fee:$1790
  • Uniform Fee: $190
  • Refundable Volunteer Surcharge: $400
  • Total Season Fee: $2380

TEAM NOTES

  • 50 Practice Hours 
  • 16 Games
  • 3-4 Tournaments / Possible State Championship Tournament
  • Team structure will be assembled based on tryouts scheduled in late September in Eugene. Players chosen as alternates will be invited to skate when the Pavilion opens in October for a second tryout. 
  • We will do our best to schedule as many “checking games” as possible.
  • Team off-ice activities will begin shortly after tryouts.
  • Three installment payments due November, December and January will be available.
  • Capacity is 20 athletes.

16U AA

  • 16 Games
  • 4 Tournaments / Possible State Championship Tournament
  • Team structure will be assembled based on tryouts scheduled in late September in Eugene. Players chosen as alternates will be invited to skate when the Pavilion opens in October for a second tryout. 
  • We will do our best to schedule as many “checking games” as possible.
  • Team activities begin shortly after tryouts.
  • Three installment payments due November, December, and January will be available.
