Practice Schedule

Schedule Notes:

  • Monday Goalie practice ends in December.
  • For 16U and 18U teams there are still some moving pieces to sort out. There will likely be adjustments in how that block of time is carved up between the 2 teams and how much of that ice is shared at any given time.
  • Opportunities for additional practices will certainly arise during the season. A common example is a team is traveling for a game or tournament during one of their assigned practice slots.  In those cases their practice time may be made available to other teams on an as-needed basis.

Uniforms

Thank you Parents for feedback on the uniform program during our annual end of season survey.  The Steering Committee listened. Here are the updates:

  • Practice socks will be included with uniform orders. Athletes should use the practice socks instead of game socks during practices. This will preserve the life span of the game socks during the season.
  • Reversible jerseys will NOT be available for 8U athletes.
  • Player name plates will continue to be placed on shoulder area.
  • No sponsor logos on jersey. Sponsor logos to be placed as stickers on helmets.
  • This is the 2nd season of the new uniforms. Parents can opt out of purchasing as new uniform under certain conditions. See the Team Requirements section on the Uniform page for specifics. Please note that there will be one opportunity to purchase uniforms.

Dryland Training

Dryland training options are currently being considered on a team by team basis. We've had mixed results in the past when it comes to athlete participation. Any team managers (or parents) that have ideas or suggestions on this aspect are encouraged to reach out to the Coaching Director.

COACHES

Coaching applications opened in April.  Head and Assistant Coaches should be finalized by June. When that happens they will be listed in each team section below. Practice Coaches will be finalized in the early Fall or late Summer. If you're interested in coaching, go to the Coaching Signup  page for more info.

TEAM MANAGERS

Interested in stepping into the Team Manager role? Or simply curious and want to learn more? Head to the Volunteer page to learn more and send your questions or expression of interest to the Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteer Requirement

The refundable volunteer fee is unchanged at $400.

The fee is refundable when you complete the required number of hours.

Last season, the requirement was 10 hours, of which 5 needed to be home tournament hours.  There are 3 home tournaments this year and plenty of opportunities to earn hours before, during, or after a tournament.

Accruing hours is easy and quick. It's per family.  If you step into a Team Manager or Steering Committee role, the fee is waived right off the bat. All your questions about volunteering are here.

Parent feedback from the end of season survey tells us more options to volunteer are needed.  Information forthcoming on this aspect.

Safesport & Background Checks for Parents

At least 1 parent of each athlete MUST complete the following three items.

  1. Register with USA Hockey as a Parent Volunteer. No cost.  You will receive a USA Hockey number which will be required at the time of athlete registration with the Bend Rapids.  Get registered here.
  2. Safesport Certified. Safesport certification or renewal takes about 30-90 minutes to complete online.  No cost.  Start the SafeSport certification.
  3. Background Screened.  The background check application takes just a few minutes to submit. Start your background screening. This is facilitated through USA Hockey. Note: There is a fee. The Rapids will refund the background check fee to any parent that completes the process. After you submit the form, you'll receive an email receipt. Forward this email to the Finance Manager. They will process the refund through your sportsengine account.
