Dear Rapids Families,
We are extremely excited to open registration for the 2022-2023 Hockey Season!
We greatly appreciate your patience as the organization has been working through many changes in order to get to a place where we can get the season rolling. We have updated the design of our jerseys through a new vendor that will be supplying us with new merchandise and gear to rep the Rapids everywhere. There have been changes to the Steering Committee through the Bend Ice elections this summer; welcoming Todd Rich in as Vice Chair and welcoming back, Muna Mackey as Finance Manager. We have also consolidated a few roles including making Michael Waller our Coaching Director. Speaking of coaches, here's our lineup for this season.
We had an amazing season last year and it felt really good to get back to “normal”. Our two home tournaments came together with the help of Jessica Rich, Muna Mackey and the rest of the Steering Committee and Rapids Families. It was great to see everyone helping out and a huge shout out to the 10U families for being such a big help!
The biggest news is that in May we held tryouts and selected our first 16U AA team. This is the first time that the Rapids will have a team at the AA (Tier 2 level) team at any age-level. We have 16 players from around the state competing at a higher level outside of our typical OSHA games and have the opportunity to represent Oregon in the National Championships next March. This has been in the works since the Rapids came together and I, for one, am proud to see it come to fruition this season. Many people have put the pieces in place to help this team come together, not only past and present Steering Committee members but also members of the community at-large. Thank you to all! I can’t wait to see them play and represent not only the Rapids but Oregon hockey!
